1,3-Adamantanediol dimethacrylate - Introduction
Adamantyl 1,3-dimethacrylate (MMA for short) is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. The following is its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
1. nature:
-Appearance: colorless liquid
-Boiling point: 101-103 degrees Celsius
-Density: 0.94-0.95g/cm³
-Solubility: Miscible with organic solvents such as alcohols, ketones and ethers
2. use:
- MMA is a commonly used monomer, which can be used to synthesize polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin. The resin has high transparency, good weather resistance and optical properties, so it is widely used in the manufacture of glasses, artificial stone, automobile lampshades, outdoor billboards and plastic liners.
-It can also be used to synthesize top hot and cold polymer (PTC) materials, which have specific resistance temperature characteristics in a certain temperature range, and can be used to make temperature sensors, power-off protectors and automatic thermostats.
3. Preparation method:
The preparation of MMA is mainly carried out by an acetylene oxidation method or an isopropanol dehydration method. Acetylene oxidation method of acetylene and methanol through a series of reactions to produce methanol formate, and then react with methanol to get MMA. Isopropyl alcohol dehydration law is the dehydration reaction of isopropyl alcohol to produce acrolein, and then hydrogen cyanide and ammonium ethyl sulfate reaction to produce the corresponding cyanide, and finally the cyanide and methanol reaction to obtain MMA.
4. Safety Information:
- MMA is irritating and may cause irritation and inflammation when in contact with skin and eyes, so wear protective gloves and goggles and maintain good ventilation when in use.
-Avoid inhaling mist and use a suitable protective mask if necessary.
- MMA may decompose at high temperatures and produce harmful substances, so flames and fire sources during heating should be avoided.
-should be stored away from fire and oxidant, stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place.
-Follow proper operating and safety practices during use and storage to ensure personal and environmental safety.
